About This Clinic
LEARN TO HARNESS, HITCH, AND DRIVE
Learn to harness, hitch, and drive a horse — from basic harness grooming all the way to sitting in the box seat with the lines in your hands. Over two days, you’ll learn the fundamentals of driving in a safe, supportive environment with expert guidance every step of the way.
By the end of this clinic, you’ll be able to name the parts of the harness and driving vehicles, hitch a horse correctly, and have real driving skills under your belt. We provide all of the horses and vehicles — all you need to do is show up. Driving is a rewarding discipline, especially for those who may not be able to ride anymore but still want to enjoy horses in a meaningful way. Safety is woven into every part of both days.

The Experience
WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE
Day 1: Foundations
Learn the parts of the harness, the parts of the carriage, and basic driving terminology. Practice harnessing, grooming, and hitching under expert supervision.
Day 2: Behind the Lines
Put your knowledge into practice. Drive a horse with guidance from experienced clinicians, learn traffic desensitizing, and build real driving confidence.
Safety Throughout
Driving safety is covered from start to finish — from preventing runaways to working a driving horse through challenging situations. You’ll leave with skills you can trust.

ACCOMMODATION INFO
At The Ranch
Overnight boarding is available at $35/night for those bringing horses for other events. There are no hookups at the ranch (no sewer, plumbing, or electricity for campers). If bringing a trailer, someone will meet you and direct you where to park.
Nearby Options
There are RV parks with full hookups within 5 minutes of the ranch, and several hotels nearby. The Holiday Inn next to HEB is the most popular option. Detailed accommodation info will be included in your confirmation email.
DIRECTIONS TO GRACE RANCH
- 1Come up to the gate — Grace Ranch. If closed, open and close behind you. If open, leave it open.
- 2Drive straight up to a gate with an arrow on it.
- 3Turn left and drive along the rail.
- 4Turn right and park in the big open pasture.
If bringing a trailer, someone will meet you and direct you where to park. Detailed directions will also be included in your confirmation email.
